Why not to celebrate Father's day.

To my family and others,

Celebrating Father's day is not prohibited, and you can do so.

However, keep in mind that you are making a statement that you have set aside a day for your father. I know that you love you father, and probably see them every other day.

Your children may not understand that, and they may consider it the only day to appreciate you. You will not findout until you have grown old, if they understood the concept.

In fact, looking at the history of mankind where Adam's kids started respecting their loved ones by making images, and slowly their kids starting putting flowers on them, and slowly their kids brought images to Masjid.... until Muslims became pagans.

I am not a scholar, but Allah has given me understanding enough to see potential of adapting traditions from Non-Muslim that are not safe. Why not celebrate Father's day, Mother's day, Valentine's day (with your spouse).... on Eid.

What would you do on Eid? Go to work?

Our Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) did not set aside a day for any of this. He was given knowledge of things to come, and he only celebrated Eid. Do you love others more than he did?

I know most of you ignore what I say, or don't even read it, so I don't expect any big change.

Also, if we are following Islam in other aspects like praying Salat daily, abandon Music, and do what is Halal, and stop what is Haram, then may be your Eiman is strong enough to tolerate this.

And Allah knows best.

Adnan
